Brighton & Hove Community Server
Supporting local not for profit organisations
Brighton & Hove Community Server will provide a variety of free and low cost services to local community organisations, enabling them to more easily publish information of value to the local community. This will include hosting web pages,and email lists as well as tools for building web pages, sharing local news and events and connecting into other information services such as East Sussex Community Information Service.
More importantly it will recognise the need to provide ongoing support to help staff and volunteers from community organisations make use of the tools being developed. This will include training and other related learning activities.
SCIP is leading this work, based on initial consultation with local groups about their needs [click here to download the report].
In May 2005 SCIP produced an initial project plan [download here] to outline its approach to the project. It includes setting up a Community Server Steering Group to offer a forum for the many people who have an interest in this project.
